Pray to Earth (The Mother)

 O Earth,my mother,listen to my innermost cry,
 I won't leave you, for I do not want to die.
Starry nights and sunny mornings,

Westerlies, clouds, showers, and lightnings ,

Hills, vales,woods and dales,  from the source to sea shore–

Would be of any use should I be no more?

Paradise! Without sorrow, sufferings, destitution?

Eternal Life ! Baring poverty, misery, and pain?

Ever-youthful beauties and ever-glowing sights,

 Ever-breezy dawns and joy-lit nights--

All I despise ; Fie! unbearable monotony of pleasures!

 I won't have there frosty winters or sun-burnt summers.

I won't have there dreamful nights to be wildly gay.

And surely I would be denied of my own sweetheart in May.

In Heaven,Gods are tyrant and Goddesses are whimsical.

Their high handedness and wickedness are intolerable.

Bowing down my head deathlessly before them--

I feel, being your son, is a humane shame.

My loving Mother,I love only you in this universe.

Blessing of God is a hoax,rather I welcome your curse.

I know, and for sure, you can not grant my prayer ;

Yet,let me be in you even after my life's final departure.

I have enjoyed only breathing at last

 

I've borne the joy of life since I was born.

 I've sucked my mother, squeezed my father,

Exploited the neighbors, the country 

And the world as far as I could further.

I've borne joy of life by deceiving friends 

And cajoling foes.

I dived into the sea deepest to gather pearls,

And flew up into the blue to pluck the stars.

I 've withstood the joyous burden only to see you envious.

Bouyant have I been so far,but what blakens the sky?

Fright,like a huge bat,coming from nowhere, devours all low and high.

Here lies my friend, there cries my enemy.

Blurred, blurred seems all, light burns dimmer,

The known look unknown and the near goes far.

Frazzled l've fled, leaving the bunfight,throwing my sackful of joy,

Only to breathe in the naked air, throwing out my 'pleasure-troy'.
